FAQs

Can Spinal Flow help me?
In short, yes. It is still necessary to do an assessment to determine where there are blockages in your body. If there are no blockages, Spinal Flow is still a great way to support and maintain overall health & wellbeing.
What are the benefits of Spinal Flow?

The possibilities are endless here. You may experience everything from feeling calmer, happier and more energized, better sleep, mental clarity, release of pain and inflammation, structural/alignment changes, faster recovery time from illness or injury, increase in performance, stronger immune function, digestive relief, increased lymphatic flow, hormonal rebalancing, healing from a condition and more…
How often should I come for sessions?
There is no manipulation of the body with Spinal Flow. As such, it is often recommended that you come for sessions in close proximity to each other, especially initially. This way we remove the external interference – the old thinking, behaving, habitual patterns that were keeping you stuck. At the end of your initial consult, an appropriate treatment schedule will be suggested based on your needs.
What are the benefits of Group Sessions?

Although private sessions are available, Spinal Flow was intended to be practiced in a group setting. Here’s why: *Your body needs time to process between points of contact by a practitioner – this is how it reconnects, increases ease, and releases. It is how your body learns to heal itself! *The collective energy flowing together results in faster changes to the system. *Individuals in a group session often entrain with each other in a supportive way – as one client increases flow, others will too. *The collective intention to heal supports everyone in the room – the energy is palpable. *It can make the process of healing less lonely. *The decreased cost and increased length of the session may work better for you. *Bonus: sometimes we even laugh, chat, connect and lighten the mood a little.
Are there any contraindications?

Nope! Anyone, at any age (including newborns), is able to receive Spinal Flow treatments. It’s still important to consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any new treatments.
How can I prepare for a session?
*Wear comfortable clothing. Spinal Flow involves a gentle touch that requires access to the spine (sacrum included), back and head. *This is a scent free space. Please avoid wearing any strong scented products as some clients are quite sensitive. *Make space for your session - set an intention for your upcoming session, stay present in your healing experience, avoid over-exertion and allow time afterward to honour whatever comes up for you.
What do Spinal Flow sessions look/feel like?
In a Spinal Flow session you’ll lay comfortably on a massage table (for those who cannot lay on their stomach, there are ways you can receive treatment from a side lying or seated position). Pelvic bolsters will be placed under your hips. They help correct pelvic dysfunction and bring more flow through your body. Through gentle touch, specific access points in the sacral area and cranium will be activated, stimulating the dura mater (the protective layer around your spinal cord) and triggering a unique spinal wave. The wave increases ease and flexibility, allowing your body to release blockages, restore function, and enhance overall well-being. Each individual’s spinal wave is unique and your wave may change in nature and intensity from session to session. During the session, you may feel still, experience movement or twitches, make sounds, feel deeply relaxed, have emotional releases and more. Everyone’s healing journey is different. Some sessions may feel amazing, and other times you may experience temporary discomfort as your body releases what no longer serves you and re-aligns itself. Whatever your experience, know that it’s all part of the process. This is a safe space where there is no judgement and only healing. Your only job is to allow your body to do what it knows to do and to trust that it is.

What should I expect after a session?
You may feel great after today, you may not feel so good or you may feel no different at all – all these responses are normal and expected. Some clients enjoy immediate results, while others find that it takes time to feel relief from their pain or symptoms. Some people may feel that their symptoms are temporarily exacerbated as the body is working through its healing process. You may have had certain symptoms for years, therefore your body will need time to adjust and heal. At these times, it is crucial that you continue the treatments. These are just bumps on the road towards greater healing. If you stop treatments because of this, you are preventing your body from healing at the root. If you feel no different, don’t get upset, it can take time. It is the same when we put on braces to straighten our teeth – they don’t become straight immediately – it takes time to make permanent change. Children often respond quickly, while adults with long standing, chronic issues may heal more slowly and require more frequent treatments initially. The healing process can take time, but it also doesn’t have to. The story we tell ourselves about our healing (our belief), and the work we put in outside of sessions, can all lead to more rapid healing.
Is Spinal Flow covered by insurance?

We understand the importance of accessible treatment options. Some clients receive benefits under their Health Spending Accounts. We encourage you to consult with your benefits provider to understand the specifics of your coverage to give you the clarity you need.
